Ashley and Jason

Ashley and Jason are the most fabulous, loving, sincere couple who had the most fabulous, beautiful wedding out in Smith Center, KS. The town sums up everything I love about small town Kansas. The people were genuine and kind, and the town was full of fun little finds! People really don’t give our little state nearly enough credit; we’ve totally got it going on in so many ways! :)
Ashley and Jason’s unmistakable love for one another combined with the lovely setting made for some really gorgeous photos. I had a hard time narrowing it down! Here are just a few…

The girls got ready in the incredible historic Ingleboro Mansion, which was full of gorgeous details.

The moment just after the bride finishes getting dressed is ALWAYS one of my favorites from the wedding day! I think this photo may be my favorite one of this moment ever!

Look how beautiful she is!!! Are you kidding me?!?!?!

Of all the weddings I’ve ever been to, I’ve yet to see guys get ready in a motel parking lot. That is, until now!

And, well, since it only takes guys about 30 seconds to get ready, they often end up having to find a way to fill the extra time. And really, what kills all that extra time better than a little pre-wedding wiffle ball?

Ashley and Jason opted to see each other before the wedding so we’d have tons of time for fun portraits. I LOVE love love when couples chose to do this! It’s such a sweet, meaningful few moments to have together before the craziness of the day begins! It’s just one of those moments that a couple never forgets.

The reception was full of warm, welcoming touches:

All of the kids were having waaaay too good a time with all the glow-sticks! Who can blame them?!

And the following is quite possibly one of my favorite photos of all time. I’ve got to tell you, we got some funny looks while pulling this one off…but I’m thinking it was well worth it!

Thanks so much Ashley and Jason for inviting me to be a part of your day!

The Vails family

While I was in Oklahoma City a few weekends ago, I had the opportunity to photograph the Vails family. I must say, we had quite a challenging situation on our hands. A family photo at high noon (the WORST light!) with 30 mph wind gusts in a city overrun by thousands of people in town for the Oklahoma City Arts Festival. Yikes! With no prior time to scout for the best light and locations, I was a little nervous. To make matters worse, we ended up having only about 20 minutes in one spot to take the photos!
Despite the challenges facing us, the Vails’ were the most amazing troopers ever! The spot we found reminds me of a fifties diner; I just love it.
They hadn’t had any family photos for over 15 years, so these couldn’t have been more overdue!

Um yes please!! BOOMER SOONER!! :)

Kristen is the most amazing artist you’ll ever meet. Seriously, you’ve got to check out her work! She’s even showing at the Oklahoma state capitol right now. How cool is that?! Click here to read about the exhibit, “Unscarred by Spur or Rod.”
