An engagement session out in the country, you say? How can I resist! When Alison told me she wanted to have her photos taken on Kirk’s parents’ farm, I was more than happy to oblige. Having been raised on a very rural farm myself, I know that they just don’t make light like that in the city.

And what beautiful light we had! I think spring is finally here…(knock on wood).

Thanks for getting me out of the confines of the Wichita city limits for the evening, guys! It was a ton of fun, and I’m really looking forward to your wedding!

What are the odds? Sometimes, when I get into a reflective mood, I muse about how our everyday, chance decisions change our lives without our even knowing it. For instance, if my best friend in high school wouldn’t have convinced me to be in forensics, my forensics teacher never would have talked me into trying debate. And if I’d never been in debate in high school? I wouldn’t have met Mark, and I probably would not be married to him right now.

V and Y are both from Indonesia. They lived on two different islands among Indonesia’s 17,508 islands (Can you believe that?!?! That’s a crazy number of islands for one country!). They never met in their native country. So how likely is it that they’d both come to the United States, to Oklahoma of all places? And then to the same city in Oklahoma? What are the odds that these two people would end up in the same college classroom together? And how likely it is that they’d catch each other’s eye and become friends? And later soulmates?

V and Y are a dream couple when it comes to photography. They’re genuine, outgoing, and madly in love. Not to mention, they have a killer sense of style. What are the odds?! I wanted to steal every single outfit they brought, and V’s concept for the shoot was a lot of fun!

Though I had a fantastic time in Las Vegas for the Wedding & Portrait Photographers International conference, I am SO glad to be home in Wichita again!

I wanted to write a quick post to let everyone know that I’ve been having some problems with my blog lately, and I haven’t been getting most of my messages that were sent through the blog contact form. If yours was one of the messages that got lost, you have no idea how sorry I am! Seriously, I feel awful. Just when I think I’ve got all this technology down pat, it throws me for a loop once again.
I’ve fixed the problem, and please feel free to write again if I didn’t answer the first time. I owe you a super-thorough response and perhaps a coffee date if you live around here!

Right now I’m working on V and Y’s engagement session that I shot while I was in Las Vegas. V contacted me with this amazing concept for the shoot. She wanted to utilize the architecture at the European-themed casinos to create a series of images that one might get during a vacation throughout Europe. Despite the throngs of tourists and the omnipresence of the ubiquitous Vegas advertising (featuring not-so-European attractions…), we had a fantastic time making some gorgeous images.

While I’ve got a slew of such images headed your way, I just had to quickly post a few that deviate somewhat from our concept. No Europe here; These are just downright Vegas-y and fun!
